An unusually large circular bulge on the back is called a-hump. It can happen at any age but it is more common in older women. Age-related-hump is usually caused by weakness in the bones of the spine, causing them to pinch or crack. The second type of-hump is seen in infants or adolescents, which is due to deformity or entanglement of the bones of the spine. Small-humps cause less trouble. Large-humps can be painful and distort the body. The treatment of hump-depends on your age, its cause and effect. It is colloquially called hunchback in English and kyphosis in medical language.

पीठ पर असामन्य रूप से बड़ा गोलाकार उभार, कूबड़ कहलाता है। यह किसी भी उम्र में हो सकता है लेकिन बुजुर्ग महिलाओं में यह समस्या आम है। आयु से संबंधित कूबड़ आमतौर पर रीढ़ की हड्डियों में कमजोरी आने के कारण होता है जिससे वे दब या चटक जाती हैं। दूसरी तरह का कूबड़ शिशुओं या किशोरों में दिखता है जो रीढ़ की हड्डियों में विकृति या एक दुसरे में धंस जाने के कारण होता है । छोटे कूबड़ से कम परेशानी होती है। बड़े कूबड़ के दर्द हो सकता है और यह शरीर को विकृत कर देता है। कूबड़ का उपचार आपकी उम्र, इसकी वजह और असर पर निर्भर करता है। इसे अंग्रेजी में बोलचाल की भाषा में हंचबैक (hunchback) और चिकित्सकीय भाषा में कायफोसिस (kyphosis) कहते हैं।
